Ryan and Jenny met on Hinge in November 2019. Jenny was fulfilling a dating pact she had made with one of her girlfriends (now Bridesmaid), Catherine Livingston, and Ryan was in search of a date for his company holiday party that his boss had insisted he attend with a plus-one.

Ryan was instantly attracted to Jenny, whose profile professed that her ideal day off would consist of “skiing nine runs followed by golfing nine holes.” He knew they had to meet.

Two days later, on November 19, 2019, Ryan and Jenny met for a drink at a bar in their mutual neighborhood of West Los Angeles. They instantly hit it off. Jenny couldn’t stop thinking about Ryan’s infectious smile, authentic sincerity, and witty personality that seemed to mesh perfectly with hers.

Ryan was already thinking far beyond the holiday party. In the days that followed, he took Jenny for a bike ride along The Strand, and she took Ryan to a UCLA basketball game. A few days later, Ryan claimed he needed to borrow an umbrella as an excuse to see her again, and he even joined in on her birthday festivities despite the fact they’d met just a few weeks before. The strong attraction was mutual, and neither of them could explain it beyond feeling like they had known each other their whole lives.

They fell in love, and the last few years have been filled with adventure and laughter as they have begun to build a life together.

Ryan asked Jenny to marry him on September 9, 2022. It was the biggest surprise of her life. They had been planning a weekend trip to visit Jenny’s family in Fresno, and Ryan suggested stopping in Sequoia along the way. He planned out a 12-mile hike along the Lakes Trail and proposed at the halfway point, after lunch, in front of Aster Lake, without another human in sight, and with zero bars of cell reception. It was the most beautiful, private, and blissful moment of happiness. And the adrenaline certainly helped make the six miles back a breeze!
